I like how the ending came out, Gavin! :) Look forward to the resolution of that line.

I should probably drop a footnote here now that I've had two people ask...

No, Gavin is not hallucinating. He's having a vision of Shira in torment in Chaos as part of his own nightmares brought on by the Dark Side.

Oh and liking the sith nightmare hell vision of the dead thing very creepy.
Makes you wonder about the condition of Vader's pyjamas in the morning.

If anyone needs access to the GoogleDocs where we are writing the first briefing (it is a "write as you can!" deal - it even has an IM bar if more than one of us can get together :) ) please let me know - the transitions into that pending post are occurring :)

I like where we are at and I respectfully request that no one else mentions the crate until I can pair down the explanation of what it is and where it went to something less that 30,000 words.

Short version: By means of a Byzantine series of events it is:
a) on board the Scaul
and
b) NOT in Shadow's possession.

Don't worry Piggy- the crate will not be discovered without your input. But it makes perfect sense in the chaos that Shadow would think she knew where it was (and be wrong).

Very effective, short plot - nicely done Face, Gav. It does a good job of catching the tension and foreshadowing future interactions within the new squad.

Great little plot, Tyria - it is good to get a glimpse at another person's reaction to Gavin's return. I also like how you conveyed a great deal of information in a very concise little plot. That's not easy!

This section,

Quote:
When it didn't, she let her breath out slowly, then tried to figure out exactly how she felt about...this. Unable to make heads or tails out of it, she checked her chrono again and decided she had just enough time to go see her husband before the briefing. She got up to go, and then remembered the goodbye that was still so fresh it hadn’t fully sunk in yet. She sighed, and glanced at the com on her desk.

She quickly hit “forward” on her datapad, and transmitted Face’s message to Wedge before grabbing her com.

“Antilles,” her husband’s voice came over the line.

If I'm not mistaken, Sacul's already clear of the Dream and is getting ready to jump into hyperspace.
Since Tyr and Wedge are on two different ships by this point, maybe adjust to say that she had enough time to reach Wedge over the comms?

It was more about the "go see her husband before the briefing" part... but whatever.

Ah, gotcha.

Still, it refers to her having already forgotten the goodbye, so it comports completely with them being gone. She remembered she couldn't go see him, hence she commed him.

While I admittedly had seen and contributed a bit to The Briefing... it is still a great intro to what we are undertaking. I'm also admitting up front that I will most likely need to reference it often to see who is who and where and how.

I love the new friction/interplay between Gavin and Brya. It leaves so much unanswered and sets up a very interesting dynamic!

While it did take a little while, I agree with Shadow in that the briefing will be a VERY useful tool for us as we write - especially for when we write characters besides our own :)

As for the Brya twist - Wow, that'll be interesting!

Wheeee - Love drama! Well written little bit Gav, it will be interesting to see how the continuing complications re: relationships resolve themselves.

A heavy ending for Elassar :(

Also, not surprising about Jaden's files, and it shall be interesting to see how Gav's new found information on fellow teammates will affect the interactions that occur.

Good stuff! I promise I'll plot the next bit with Red soon!

Also, wasn't Gavin a Mr, not Lieutenant?

Yes, but Sacul is not entirely over what Gavin did and is being condescending.
She'll get over it and start calling him either "Mr. Gavin" or just plain, simple "Gavin" soon.

For such a long hiatus, it seems the plot has exploded. And I happen to know that there are even more in the wings just waiting to be put up!

Notes:
-While Brya may not be ready to jump back into things with Gavin, it's obvious the ball is already rolling downhill in that direction. I wonder how Shadow will react?

-Red, you're getting really good at writing hand-to-hand combat scenes. This is a good side benefit of taking martial arts and rapier.

-Poor Elassar. While I grieve for his character, is it bad that part of me is kinda... happy that for once not everything worked out well? Adds a touch of realism in a fictional world.

Thank you, Shadow! Push hands is actually a form we use in Tai Chi - very zen way to defend yourself :)

I agree with you about Elassar - while it saddens me that the character is gone (and that the end was so, hard) but it is a realistic result.

Re: Shadow/Gavin - it seems like he got off lucky with JUST a can thrown at his head.

I really appreciate the struggle Shadow is going through facing Gavin - it will be interesting to see how this plays out, especially considering the new factor of Brya, which the "players" might know about, but so far not all the characters do. That has all sorts of potential.

Very well written, guys!

Very deep plot - it did a good job expanding on the clone issue and I look forward to seeing how information does (or doesn't) develop for Theran and the new squad around that issue.

Strangling Wedge... oh my...

Good to see the squads meshing.

Well... this'll make any Gav/Tyr interactions interesting.

I think I am missing something... What is the difference between nightmares and night terrors? Other than the later is obviously a lot more intense.

Otherwise, I like it. I know lots of people like action, but I've always appreciated the 'behind-the-scenes' interaction plots best. Seeing people bonding, sharing, growing together. Who knows, maybe Tyr and Red can start a Night Terrors Anonymous group!

Night Terrors are a psychological and physiological reaction that are (in modern psychology, the last time I was up to date on my DSM standards/medical issues) related to PTSD/anxiety issues - significantly more real/problematic than nightmares in terms of walking/acting in your sleep and having a physical effect on the body. They also leave a "mark" so to speak on EKG/Cat scans when you are looking at a person who is experiencing them.

So, intensity is one of the differences, as well as the detrimental physiological effect it has on the person suffering from them.

Hope that clarifies :)

I'm a bit bleary eyed at the moment.
I have a question.
Has the Sacul departed Rebel Dream by the last post in plot 18A?

If so, I think I'd like to stick a bit right there at the end, if that's O.K.
