I realise that this is probably not the best group to speak to, but a couple of friends and I are staying up late and watching the Superbowl!

Whilst we're kinda confident that we understand the rules of American Football, I've no doubt there will be the occasional question that we might need to ask!

Can I book someone to be on AIM or Skype throughout the Superbowl to assist?!

(Incidentally, we'll be watching it on the BBC, so we'll be watching it advertless! :) )

I can turn on AIM whilst I'm watching. I will be amidst greater minds and can ask questions.

I have no idea what I'm going to be doing tomorrow, as my kid is sick, but I'll make sure my BlackBerry is signed on to AIM so I can be useless, but entertaining. ;)

I'll be at a party at a friend's place, but you're welcome to call or text me...

I usually leave Skype and AIM running all day, so I'll probably be around.

Wouldn't know.

Two f*cking prisoners kept me at work until 2am! Finally got to my friends house to watch the last five mins of game time!

We then managed to find it online (thanks to BBC trickery) and watch it all again, but knowing the final result, detracted somewhat. Still, we're certainly doing it again next year!

Hehe, I simply don't get the game at all.

A couple of years ago, I had this conversation with my dad:

Me: Some of my friends invited me to their Super Bowl party.
Dad: Are you gonna go?
Me: I guess so; it'll be fun to hang out even if I don't watch the game.
Dad: Ah. Well, have fun.
Me: Dad...?
Dad: Yeah?
Me: Super Bowl...that's football, right?
Dad: Whatever you do, don't try to discuss the game at all. Just root for who your friends are rooting for. When they cheer, you cheer. When they get annoyed, you get annoyed. But do NOT talk about it.

What can I say...I just don't really do sports. *G*

I did find out, though, that Super Bowl Sunday, after the game starts, is a great time to shop - there is no one at the store.

I was in Walmart loading up on snacks 10 mins before the game started. That's a bad time to shop.

Indeed. For that same Super Bowl party I mentioned before, I had said I'd bring some chips and dip, so I stopped on the way there. Oh my gosh. I vowed, "Never again." And that was just a smaller store near my house - I can't even imagine what Walmart would've been like!

On the other hand, I did a full grocery shopping trip about 15 minutes into half time. It was better than shopping at night: the store was empty, but fully-staffed!

I pride myself considerably on still not knowing who won.

Sadly that is a step down from last year, when I didn't even know who played until after the fact. :/

I didn't know the game was in Miami until the next morning. I had an errand on south beach and saw what seemed to be a LOT of tourists packing up and hailing cabs and stuff, waving airline tickets, etc. I asked around if anyone thought there seemed to be more tourists than usual..got myself a bunch of straaange looks that day, yessir.

Hehehe, good nerd. I fulfill my minuscule TV sports-watching needs with the last quarters of an occasional Super Bowl or the big bowl games for the local college teams. But then there's the Olympics. Ahhhhhhhh. Two weeks every two years. That's 95% of my TV sports-watching needs right there.

Otherwise, I find it much more fun to actually play sports.

Same here. But I have to miss the opening ceremonies tomorrow (my favorite part of any Olympic games) due to nerdy music fraternity stuff. Lame!

The opening ceremony was very impressive.

I'll see if I can find it in a downloadable format for you. ('cause I want a copy for myself)

EDIT: Ah, found it in HD quality. Hit me up on Skype for a link.

Definitely the best Winter Olympics opening ceremony I've seen. Having it indoors for the first time was an excellent idea. Digital projectors = win. Used them a lot as an art major.
