The Briefest Plot Summary I Have Ever Written

How do you summarize the RS Plot without making it sound corny? Impossible. A summary can only gather the barest of plot elements while ignoring the other 99% of the story. This summary in no way is meant to replace the reading of the RS Plot. The RS Plot is a truly valuable and immensely enjoyable read. However, it's also really long, so this summary will come in handy for those who want reminders of past stories or need quick information in order to began their RS Plot writing careers.

Note that ROTJ occurs 4 years after ANH.

Now to start at the beginning.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...

ANH. ESB. ROTJ.

2-5 years after ROTJ
X-Wing novels (both Rogue and Wraith)

5 years after ROTJ
Thrawn Trilogy.
Isard's Revenge

7 years after ROTJ
Jedi Academy Trilogy.
I, Jedi.
Starfighter's of Adumar

7.5 years after ROTJ
Prelude to Plot 1

After the incident on Adumar, Wedge Antilles unites Rogues and Wraiths under the banner of Rogue Squadron. RS eventually moves into Tynna Base. They have their first encounters with Darth Khyyron and Darth Zev.

8 years after ROTJ
Plot 1
After a late night sabaac game, Darth Khyyron's Imperial forces attack Tynna Base. Ran, Iella, and Callista are captured and taken to the massive research facility Adirondack. Ran is turned into a landwarrior, a human with cybernetic replacements, turning him into a living war machine. Ran and Iella later escape.

Meanwhile back at the base, Rogue Squadron finally fights off the Imperials and stage a massive, collaborative attack on Adirondack. Several pilots get captured. Face leads a small group against Khyyron's personal outpost and rescues them.

Plot 2
RS attacks another of Khyyron's research facilities. Tynna Base gets attacked again. RS moves to Apex Base on Coruscant. They fight off some Imperial infiltrators.

RS is sent to Nox Base to investigate the formerly-Imperial Noz Research Facility. They discover the production of the advanced technology and the brutality of the Noz. A couple RS pilots capture a Cataclysm-Class Cruiser (later named the Rogue's Arrow). Khyyron's flagship the Vertex arrives with an Imperial fleet and tries to take command of the Noz Research Facility and destroy Rogue Squadron. The Noz escape. The Rogues fight the Imps and win with reinforcements. Corran and Tyria confront and kill Darth Khyyron.

Plot 3
RS moves to Aquaris Base. Train for upcoming missions.

Rogue Squadron joins a fleet while a team of Rogues embark on Operation Vertex (OV), an uncover mission aboard the Vertex that will lead to the ship's destruction.

Noz infiltrators in the RS base attempt to deter RS from embarking on their missions, but fail.

Plot 4
Rogue Squadron begins to explore the Unknown Regions. The OVers get aboard the Vertex and begin their mission.

At this point in the Plot, the RS board got unexpected deleted, and we lost a small portion of Plot 4. However, due to various circumstances, the RS Plot was not continued until a year later (in both Plot time and real time).

9 years after ROTJ
The Plotless year. A year passes in earth-time as other storylines are experimented with. A year passes in Plot time as RS operates in the Unknown Regions (i.e. Kingdom).

10 years after ROTJ
Plot 5
RS has completed its Unknown Regions exploration and is now stationed at Echo Base on Hoth. They're investigating Noz operations on the icy world. The Noz have become very powerful and militant. In the war between the Empire and New Republic, they seek to aid the losing side with their advanced technology in order to make the war last until both sides have wiped each other out...at which point the Noz will assume control of the galaxy.

The OVers have successfully destroyed the Vertex but have lost contact with RS and the New Republic in the Unknown Regions. They operate privately as Wraith Squadron until they meet back up with Rogue Squadron on Hoth. The two squadrons, however, remain separate.

In their investigations of the Noz, the Rogues discover an advanced element of the landwarrior technology. It is a brain chip, attached to the base of the skull, which will influence the actions of its wearer.

Plot 6
RS operations undercover on Coruscant. They are suspicious that the brain chips are being used to open the way for an Imperial invasion. Black Sun is also suspected of running Noz jobs. The NRD (New Republic Defenders) is a secret group that aids RS in dismembering the Black Sun headquarters on Coruscant.

RS fails to stop the flow of brain chips. A number of brain-chipped individuals open the planetary shields, and the planet is lost to the Empire.

10.5 years after ROTJ
Plot 7
The New Republic (NR) central government, exiled from Coruscant, situates itself in a mobile fleet. RS is transferred to their old Kaloth Cruiser Harmzuay.

Rogue Squadron fights the Imperials in a massive battle on the planet of Kenimpalii after peace talks between the NR and Empire fail. The Imperials destroy the capital city of Kenimpalii, and RS gets captured and sent to the Imperial prison camp Gremfeld.

Plot 8
In Gremfeld, Corran and Wedge are subjected to brain chip experiments while the Rogues plan an escape with the rest of the prisoners.

Meanwhile, the Imperial Admiral (Reilorr) who destroyed the capital city of Kenimpalii is hunted down by both the NR and Imperials sympathetic to the NR.

The Rogues save Corran and Wedge and escape Gremfeld with the assistance of Wraith Squadron and a defecting Imperial Admiral (Rifiel).

Plot 9
RS is now situated in a New Republic/Imperial/Independent fleet that skirts the border between NR and Imperial space. The fleet is centered around a huge floating city (The Ligare aka The City), which is a center of trade and diplomatic relations between the New Republic and Empire. This brief period of peace between certain factions the Empire and New Republic exists despite the Empire's actions on Kenimpalii. Because they are not a unified faction, the Empire can easily deny responsibility for what certain Imperial warlords or politicians are doing. However, the peace between the Empire and New Republic is tentative at best.

Typical insanity reigns aboard the Cataclysm-Class Cruiser Rogue's Arrow, where both RS and WS are stationed. The Noble Bachelorhood and Noble Sisterhood are fully established, especially in reaction to Wedge and Tyria's engagement. Much more humor, romance, and insanity follows.

11 years after ROTJ
Plot 10
RS and WS are working together closely now. On a data retrieval mission to the planet of Yintoa (a planet the NR promised to liberate but had since refused due to political negotiations). During their mission, a huge uprising against the planet's Imperial government occurs, and RS/WS steps in to rescue the Yintoan rebels from being crushed by the Imperial forces under the rule of Moff Arden.

For their decision to get involved, which ran contrary to the wishes of the politicians, the leadership of RS and WS have been placed on probation pending possible future penalties. Wedge considers an offer by famed General Rieekan to join a campaign that will move in and out of Imperial territory and expose the Empire for what it is. At this point, many NR leaders are falling for the peaceful, negotiatory guise that many of the Imperial factions are putting up.

A few battles ensue, and then quite unexpectedly, RS\WS is falsely accused by New Republic Councilor Brom who claims that they are traitors to the NR and have committed a number of atrocities (including planting fake evidence against Moff Arden in order to justify exterminating his rule on Yintoa). Brom himself is secretly allied with Moff Arden, and brings up his own false evidence against them. He attempts an arrest, but RS\WS slips out of his grasp. Brom is very powerful, though, and RS/WS is soon labeled an enemy of the New Republic.

Fearing that they will not be given a fair trial, RS/WS is now on the run in the Outer Rim territories of Imperial space. Their aim is two-fold. One, to clear their names so that they can rejoin the New Republic they are still loyal to. Two, to expose the many evils the Empire is still engaged in.

RS/WS battle their way through Imperial space. Insanity, bickering, and love ensues around RS/WS. Wedge and Tyria are wed.

Plot 11
Mighty forces are battling to decide the fate of the galaxy.

The New Republic, though still unified, is experiencing increasing pressures as those who remember the days of the Rebel Alliance see the need to destroy the Empire while newer ruling members think that the best way to stop the fighting is to create treaties with the Empire.

The Empire, while controlled by a number of disunited politicians and warlords, is still a powerful force to be reckoned. While some in the Empire wish to sign treaties with the NR and live peaceably alongside them, the core groups of Imperials long for the day when the Empire will crush the New Republic and regain their rule of the galaxy. Their methods involve weakening the NR bit by bit by sewing seeds of contention and forming private alliances with certain NR leaders.

The Progressive League is a group of very powerful and highly influential individuals with their hands at work in all the major forces of the galaxy. They wish to draw the New Republic and Empire together into a single nation--one that will ultimately resemble the Empire much more than the NR.

The Noz are continuing to secretly assist both the Empire and the New Republic, depending on which side currently has the upper hand. Their goal is to keep the war between the Empire and NR raging on for so long that both nations end up killing each other off, at which time the Noz will step into command, creating a galactic "utopia" of technologically-enhanced beings. The links between the NR and Empire that are drawing the two nations together are the worst enemies to the Noz's cause. Thus, the Noz (under the guise of the NRD, which assisted RS in Plot 6) are secretly assisting RS/WS in their mission to expose the evils in the Empire that still exist (though the Empire denies them) and encourage the NR to keep fighting them.

The Datul family is a crime family that has already had at least one unfavorable encounter with RS/WS, and are now being paid off (along with the competing Cartojé family) by NR Councilor Brom (under the direction of the Progressive League) to destroy RS/WS.

And, finally, the small but mighty Rogue Squadron and Wraith Squadron are exiting the Outer Rim territories and are edging into the Imperial Core. Their ensuing battles are difficult, and losses are heavy, but they are able to obtain an Imperial corvette by the name of Night Caller that will allow them to hit Imperial hotspots. The strain of being hemmed in by so many foe with so few allies to rely on is taking its toll.

To make matters worse, a new type of enemy has also arisen, a highly maneuverable swarm of Imperial land droids named "crawlers" and their flying cousins "bats" is forcing the Rogues and Wraiths to develop new fighting tactics.

The pursuers on Rogue Arrow's tail are getting very hot. At one point, a New Republic vessel boards the RA and sends in attackers. RS/WS is forced to dispatch of some of the attackers, and realize that their chances of rejoining the NR once their names are cleared has been damaged.

After some more action, and many more things that it'd take faaaaaar too long to describe (since Plot 11 is probably the longest and most action-packed Plot to date), RS/WS decides that it's time to drop out of the scene for a short bit and take a much needed...VACATION!!!

Finally, after much frolicking in the sun and playing on the ski slopes (whilst Face is away with the newly rediscovered Shira who has fallen back to her Dark Jedi ways), things get a bit too hot on Ry-Son V, and RS/WS decides to hold off the rest of their vacation for another time and get back to the mission at hand.

Plot 12
Deep in the stillness of space at the opening of this Plot, three RS pilots stumble upon the ghost ship of Tantive IV and receive a distress call from the planet of Ckollubar. Ckollubar is a slave mining camp run the Imperials and the Datul family, and is also engaged in horrendous experiments on non-humans. RS/WS, still on the run, realize that all they can do to help for now is disrupt operations and use holocamms to capture the atrocity there. RS/WS has also been joined by the Firestorms, an elite commando group led by an old friend of Face's, Will "Locker" Bevan.

A Noz starship boards the Rogue's Arrow and "somewhat blackmails" RS into accepting help from the Noz in fighting the Imperials as RS/WS continues to drive towards the Empire's core.

Meanwhile, much to Halley's distress, his family and girlfriend Tela are captured by the New Republic and threatened in order to get information on RS/WS's whereabouts.

Also to be noted during this time, Janson saves the universe, but nobody seems to notice.

Face returns to parting ways with Shira. Tyria takes a meditative retreat to the planet of Ondumar, and is captured by several Datul henchmen. For ransom, the Datuls demand a trade. Their daughter Ailie for Tyria. Not liking the terms of that bargain, RS/WS/Firestorm stages a massive assault on the Datul's homeplanet.

It gets a bit complex at this point, but basically, RS/WS/Firestorm, working in smaller strike forces, come sneaking in like Jawas and screaming in like mynocks, saving Tyria, sparing Ailie, mashing up the Datuls (with a little help from the Noz, who then try to betray them), gathering information that will help vindicate RS/WS in the New Republic's eyes, and using the Datul's huge holonet array to broadcast the video of the Ckollubar atrocities to the rest of the universe in order to promote RS/WS's campaign to wipe the Imperials out once and for all instead of dancing around them with politics. All of this in of the biggest battle sequences ever to appear in the RS Plot.

All is not well, though. Bowman finds an object that endows his miniscule Force abilities with Sith powers and the desire to use them in order to protect Shadow his girlfriend. Put under house arrest on his ship, Bowman leaves the Rogue's Arrow and meets up with Shira.

Shadow leaves the Rogue's Arrow to salvage what's left of the Sacul, which along with the Night Caller, was destroyed in the Datul battle. However, her primary mission is to seek out Bowman and bring him back to the light.

Their several-month-long operation in exile accomplished and supplies running low, the Rogues and Wraiths begin the journey back to New Republic space and Coruscant.

11.5 years after ROTJ
Plot 13

Coruscant. The Rogues and Wraiths stand before the treacherous Councilor Brom to give report of their actions in Imperial space while in exile. RS/WS was not able to gather enough information to entirely clear their names or expose Brom, but they are at least able to gain vindication and rejoin the New Republic military. However, RS/WS does have some dirt on Brom, and they use that and a threat of resignation to get a three week paid vacation, gain repairs and supplies for the Rogue's Arrow and Sacul, full pardon of all crimes committed against the New Republic while in exile, full backpay, compensation for lives lost, and the 7.3 billion credits gathered from the Datuls by the Wraiths given to the War Orphan Fund. Defeated this round, Brom gives in.

RS is now stationed in the luxurious Apex Base on Coruscant, where they were once stationed for a couple weeks in Plot 2. Rogue and Wraith popularity grows as they gain support from the citizens of the New Republic for their operation while in exile. Halley's family and girlfriend Tela are released from New Republic custody. Face gets beat up. Shadow rescues Bowman from the darkside, and together they return to salvage the Sacul.

Face and Wedge begin to make plans for the RS/WS camping trip vacation.

(end of Plot 13a)

It only mentioned major highlights; note that Corran's supposed death wasn't mentioned, the separation/reunion of certain RS members from others after Operation Vertex, Tyria's discharge, her return, etc. It just covered main points, so don't be so perturbed. :)

I just updated the summary. Some of the timing was horribly off (I must have done it in my sleep), so now it's fixed. I also added in Starfighter's of Adumar so it could be considered as part of our RS Plot/SW Canon. However, I did move the novel a couple years back so it could occur soon after the Jedi Academy Trilogy and during I, Jedi rather than in the midst of the RS Plot.

As a time reference, Wedge, Corran, and Luke are now 33 1/2. They were during ANH.

I haven't yet written the summary for Plot 12.

I take it that we're not 100% true to the Starfighters of Adumar canon. I'm sure that Tyria won't be too happy that Wedge was once in love with Iella!

Hehe, we're definitely not 100% true to the SW canon up to the point of our Plot, otherwise Corran would be married too! But I think we stay true to the gist of it. Some of the characters have different things going on in their lives, but the major events of the galaxy generally stay the same.

I've either been reading too much of the plot, or not enough of the official canon, because I had to seriously think hard about who Corran Horn is married to ;)

You ever find yourself reading the RS books and screaming "WHAT? Tyria would never say that!" or "Come on, Wes is more mature than that!" Well...maybe not the second one, but still...

Hehe, that's cool that the RS Plot has become as much as part of our SW conciousness as the SW canon.

But the SW canon Janson is always more mature than the Plot Janson. Meat Surprise. 'nuff said.

A summary of Plot 12 has now been summarized. Along with that, a summarized summary of Plot 13a.

Please note that this topic can always be found linked to the RS Plot topic in the RS Plot Vault.

I like how Face getting beat up is included as a major event in the RS Plot enough to make it as its sentence in the RS Plot Summary =0D.
